Pronghorns close out season with home-and-home

LETHBRIDGE – The Lethbridge Pronghorn women's hockey team will wrap up the 2018-19 season with a home-and-home series with the Mount Royal Cougars, starting Friday night in Lethbridge.
 
The Pronghorns and Cougars will hit the ice at Nicholas Sheran Arena Friday night at 7:00 p.m. The return affair will go Saturday night in Calgary at the Flames Community Arena at 6:00 p.m. 
 
Both games will be webcast live on pay-per-view at canadawest.tv.
 
A look at the teams
The Pronghorns (6-15-1-4) were officially eliminated from post-season contention last Saturday when Mount Royal beat the Saskatchewan Huskies in regulation time.
 
Sitting in sixth place, the Cougars (9-14-1-2) can still move up to fifth place with wins this weekend, trailing the Regina Cougars by three points, but either way will be headed out on the road for the first round of the Canada West playoffs.
 
Earlier this season, the Cougars swept the Pronghorns in another home-and-home series winning a pair of one goal games, 2-1 in Calgary and 1-0 in Lethbridge.
 
The Pronghorns enter the final weekend tied for the fewest goals scored in the conference with 31, while the Cougars have scored 43 goals in 26 games, ranking them in a tie for fifth. The Cougars have allowed 61 goals against, two fewer than the Pronghorns.
 
Players to watch
 
Pronghorn goaltender Alicia Anderson moved into the top 10 in the Canada West record books for minutes played in a single season (1,440:50), which leads all goaltenders this season. She is also tied for second in Canada West with five shutout this season and holds a 2.08 goals-against average and a 0.942 save percentage.
 
Ali Borrow and Tricia Van Vaerenbergh led the Pronghorns in scoring with six goals and four assists each.
 
For the Cougars, freshman Breanne Trotter leads her team in scoring with eight goals and 10 assists, which also leads all Canada West rookies this season.
 
Tatum Amy sits second in Cougars scoring with six goals and nine assists.
 
In the crease, Zoe DeBeauville has made 22 appearances this season and sits fourth among Canada West goalies in minutes played with 1,296:24 and sports a 1.99 goals-against average. Her lone shutout this season came on November 24th in Lethbridge.
