A Look at the Teams
The Pronghorns (0-3-1) had a tough two game road trip in Calgary last weekend, dropping games to Calgary (2-0) and Mount Royal (3-1) and will look to get in the win column this weekend.
Statistically, the Pronghorns sit with four goals scored in four games, but have allowed nine against thus far. One area the Pronghorns can improve if they are going to start trending in the right direction is an increase in shot production. Through four games, the Pronghorns are averaging only seven shot attempts per game, which sits 13
th in Canada West.
The Huskies (1-2-1), also enter the weekend on a two game losing streak having lost both their games in Calgary last weekend as well. The Huskies were beat 2-0 by Mount Royal and 2-1 by the Dinos.
Similarly to the Pronghorns, the Huskies have only scored four times thus far, but have only allowed six goals against.
A year ago, the Huskies took four points from the Pronghorns, winning 2-1 and tying 2-2, both games were in Lethbridge. The Pronghorns and Huskies will complete their season series in Saskatoon on September 28
th.
Players to Watch
Pronghorn keeper Matt Vandervoort leads the conference in total saves through four games with 22 and sits ninth in save percentage at 0.710.
Four different Pronghorns have accounted for goals thus far. Ellis Davies scored his first of the season last Sunday versus Mount Royal from the penalty spot.
Ben Kutas, Danilo Morales and freshman Tyler Quinn have scored the other Pronghorn goals.
Like the Pronghorns, the Huskies have had four different goal scorers this season but Nikolas Baikas leads the team with 15 shot attempts in four games.
