LETHBRIDGE – Heading into the final four weeks of the conference schedule, the Lethbridge Pronghorn women's hockey team is in a battle for the final playoff position in Canada West but the task is a difficult one this weekend, hosting the U SPORTS seventh ranked Alberta Pandas.

The Pronghorns and Pandas will hit the ice at Nicholas Sheran Arena Friday night at 7:00pm and Saturday afternoon at 1:00pm. Both games will be streamed live on www.canadawest.tv, presented by Co-op.

Earlier this season, the Pronghorns and Pandas split a two game set in Edmonton with the Pandas winning 3-1 and the Pronghorns returning the favor 2-1.

A look at the teams:

Stuck on a six game losing streak, the Pronghorns (6-10-1-3) are searching to rediscover the offensive production that led to the team's early season success. Despite the streak, the Pronghorns are only three points out of the final playoff spot with eight games to play.

During the streak, the Pronghorns have not scored more than two goals in a game and have dropped into a tie for fourth in goals scoring with 35.  The Pronghorns have also allowed a conference high 51 goals against.

Senior goalie Alicia Anderson is moving up the Canada West career games played list for goaltenders. She enters the weekend with 113 appearance, third on the list and is only five games behind former Pronghorn Crystal Patterson for most games played all-time. This season, Anderson holds a 2.24 goals against average and a 0.929 save percentage.

Kyra Greig continues to lead the Pronghorns in scoring with five goals and nine assists in 20 games.

The Pandas (13-6-1-0) are trending in the other direction having won nine straight games and have moved within one point of the Calgary Dinos for top spot in Canada West.

Alberta is ranked first in goals for (57), goals against (23) and power play percentage (27.3). The Pandas sit second in penalty killing (89.7%).

Autumn McDougal and Alex Poznikoff lead the Pandas and are tied for Canada West scoring lead with 23 points each. McDougal leads Canada West in goals with 12 and Poznikoff is the assist leader with 14.
