10/14/2021 3:08:00 PM

LETHBRIDGE – Heading into the final two weeks of the conference schedule, the Lethbridge Pronghorn men's soccer team hits the road traveling to Edmonton to take on the MacEwan Griffins.

Action at Clarke Stadium between the Pronghorns and Griffins is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at 2:30 pm. Both games will be streamed live on www.canadawest.tv, presented by Co-op.

The Pronghorns and Griffins have played to three consecutive ties in their last three meetings, including two during the 2019-20 season.

A look at the teams

The Pronghorns (0-6-1) earned their first point of the season last Friday in a 1-1 draw with the visiting Alberta Golden Bears. The next day the Pronghorns suffered a close 2-1 loss to the Bears.

Through seven games this season, the Pronghorns have only scored three times but it has not been from lack of opportunities. In both games versus the Golden Bears last weekend, the Pronghorns registered more shot attempts than their opponent.

Newcomer Karim Bey has scored two of the three goals for the Pronghorns this season, while Thomas Denness leads the team with two assists, assisting on both goals last weekend.

The Griffins (1-4-1) enter the weekend on a three game losing streak and were swept last weekend by the Mount Royal Cougars. In the second game, the Griffins surrendered 12 goals in a 12-3 loss.

Offensively, the Griffins are led by Alvin Mazaheri, who has scored three of the Griffins six goals this season.
