LETHBRIDGE – Heading out on the road for the last time during the 2021 conference season, the Lethbridge Pronghorn women's soccer team faces the hottest team in the central division, the MacEwan Griffins in Edmonton.
The Pronghorns will hit the pitch at Clarke Stadium in Edmonton on Saturday and Sunday at 12:00 PM. Both games will be streamed live on
www.canadawest.tv, presented by Co-op.
Earlier this season, the Griffins beat the Pronghorns 4-1 in Lethbridge.
A look at the teams
Coming off their first win of the season, the Pronghorns (1-7-0) faces a stiff test in Edmonton in the division leading MacEwan Griffins.
Last weekend, the Pronghorns beat the Alberta Pandas 2-1 Saturday afternoon before being doubled up 4-2 in the rematch on Sunday.
Through eight games this season, the Pronghorns have scored seven goals for, while allowing 26 goals against.
The pair of Lucy Mundy and Kaleigh Harris have led the Pronghorn attack with two goals and two assists each. Anneke De Klerk moved into a tie with Mundy and Harris for the team lead in goals after a two goal performance last Sunday.
Winners of six games in a row, the Griffins (7-1-0) lead the Central Division by two points as the regular season winds down.
Last weekend the Griffins swept the Mount Royal Cougars in Calgary with wins of 2-0 and 2-1.
Led by a balanced offensive attack this season, the Griffins have six different players who have registered two goals this season and sit fifth in goals scored this season. The Griffins have only surrendered six goals against in eight games this season.
