A look at the teams
Nearly 700 days since their last conference game, the Lethbridge Pronghorn men's soccer team enters the 2021 Canada West season with arguably the youngest team in the conference. 21 of the 27 players on this year's roster are in the first or second year of eligibility.
Returning from more than two years away from the sport due to a serious knee injury and then a cancelled season, fifth-year goalkeeper Nolan French is the team's lone senior and will be continue to lead the young team from the crease out.
Danilo Morales, Landon Veluw and Damon Field each scored a goal during the 2019 season and are the top returning scorers to the team, While Jitse Van den Hadelkamp will be counted on to shore up the backline this season.
Ranked second in the Canada West pre-season coaches' poll, the Mount Royal Cougars look to challenge for a Canada West title this season.
During the 2019 season, the Cougars finished with a 9-4-1 record, tops in the Prairie Division and finished with a Canada West bronze medal after being beat by crosstown rival in the Canada West semi-final in Vancouver.
2019 Canada West first-team all-star Mohamed El Gandour is the top scoring returning player for the Cougars after scoring seven times in 13 conference game in 2019.
