LETHBRIDGE – On the road for the second consecutive week, the Lethbridge Pronghorn men's soccer team heads to northern Alberta to face provincial rivals the Alberta Golden Bears and MacEwan Griffins.

Saturday afternoon the Pronghorns will face the Golden Bears at Foote Field at 2:15 pm and wrap up the weekend set across town on Sunday versus the MacEwan Griffins. Kick-off for Sunday is slated for 12:00 pm at Clarke Stadium. Both games will be streamed live on www.canadawest.tv.

The Pronghorns faced both teams earlier this year in Lethbridge, dropping a 3-2 decision to the Griffins in the 2022 home opener. The Pronghorns suffered another one goal loss the next day to the Golden Bears, 2-1.

A look at the teams

After a scoreless tie in Victoria and a loss the UBCO Heat, the Pronghorns (1-7-1) will wrap up the road portion of the Canada West schedule this weekend and enter the weekend only five points out of the finally playoff spot, held by the MacEwan Griffins.

The Pronghorns will have three home games remaining after this weekend and positive results this weekend will go a long way in the quest for a playoff spot.

Coming off the team's first loss of the season, the Golden Bears (3-1-5) sit in second place in the Prairie Division but are only two points ahead of the Calgary Dinos. The Bears dropped a 2-1 decision to Thompson Rivers in Kamloops. Alberta also has a conference high five ties, including four 1-1 ties.

Habib Assem and David Chung lead the Bears attack with six and four goals respectively.

The MacEwan Griffins (2-4-3) enter the weekend riding a three game losing streak, which included a pair of road losses last weekend to the Trinity Western Spartans (3-0) and UNBC Timberwolves (3-1).

Ousman Maheshe and Stefan Gajic lead the Griffins; Gajic sits with two goals and three assists to lead the Griffins in points, while Maheshe leads his squad in goals with three.
