LETHBRIDGE – Heading west on a two game road trip, the Lethbridge Pronghorn women's soccer team will travel to face a pair of opponents they have not played in five years, taking on Trinity Western Spartans and Fraser Valley Cascades.

The Pronghorns open the trip in Langley Friday night versus the Spartans, kick-off is slated for 7:00 PM PST and then face the Cascades Sunday afternoon in Abbotsford at 1:00 PM PST. Catch all the action on www.canadawest.tv.

The last time the Pronghorns faced off with of these teams was 2017 and no one on the current roster was part of the 2017 team. In the regular season, the Pronghorns beat the Cascades 5-0 at the University Community Stadium in Lethbridge before dropping a 2-0 decision the next day to the Spartans.

The Pronghorns went on to face the Cascades in Canada West playoffs, falling 1-0 in a neutral site game on Trinity Western University Campus.

A look at the teams

The Pronghorns (0-2-0) have opened the season with a pair of losses to the Mount Royal Cougars, however they have scored twice in both games, after averaging less than a goal a year ago.

Fourth-year striker Kaleigh Harris has scored in each of the first two games to lead the Pronghorns and currently tied for 6th in conference goal scoring.

Fellow striker Hailey Slobodian has also had a strong start to the season, recording a goal and two assists in the first two games.

The defending Canada West Champion Trinity Western Spartans (1-1-0) had a mixed bag opening weekend, beating the Victoria Vikes 3-0 in the season opener before being shutout 2-0 the next day by the UBC Thunderbirds.

Charis Wadrope scored two of the three Spartans goals in the season opening win.

Also opening the season at home, the Fraser Valley Cascades (0-1-1) had a tough season opener, dropping an 8-0 decision to the UBC Thunderbirds. In their second game of the weekend, UFV rebounded to earn a 0-0 tie with the Victoria Vikes.
