LETHBRIDGE – Horns come up short in the one goal game against the MRU Cougars, as David Schaefer capitalizes on second chance opportunity off the penalty kick for the Cougars.
BREAKDOWN
- After 45 minutes of play, the Lethbridge Pronghorns and MRU Cougars remained scoreless, despite chances by both teams.
- Lethbridge had scoring opportunities but were unable to capitalize on their chances as Cougar goalkeeper Aidan Dumoulin pulled down the save off an early shot by Abraham Efunbajo.
- Horns were in scoring territory again in the 22nd minute of the game, as Kai Sakaguchi missed wide on the Cougars net.
- MRU narrowly missed the net as Skylar Rogers hit the top of the crossbar in the 40th minute of play.
- In the second half of play, a foul on the Pronghorns gave MRU a penalty kick opportunity. Horns goalkeeper Armaan Thawer stopped the initial shot by fifth year Cougar, David Schaefer, in the 60th minute of the game, but Shafer scored on a second chance opportunity as the 'Horns were unable to clear.
- The Pronghorns had a last minute chance to tie the game in extra time, but were unsuccessful against rookie goalkeeper, Dumoulin.
