Horns earn tie against reigning U SPORTS Champions, TRU Wolfpack

POST GAME
LETHBRIDGE – A second half comeback by the Pronghorns made it a 2-2 game against the returning U SPORTS Champions, TRU Wolfpack in the Saturday afternoon game at the University of Lethbridge Community Stadium. A pair of goals by fifth year, Patrick Izett gave the Wolfpack an early lead in the game and the visitors entered the half up by two. Sakaguchi and Hughes fuelled a rebound for the Horns in the second half, finding the back of the net on TRU goalkeeper, Svyatik Artemenko to even it for the Pronghorns to end the game.
 
BREAKDOWN
  • TRU struck first in the Saturday afternoon game at the University of Lethbridge Community Stadium, as Wolfpack veteran Patrick Izett found the back of the Pronghorn net with assist by Harry Taylor in the fifth minute of play.
  • Izett extended the lead for the Wolfpack, as a shot from 25-yards sailed top corner on the Pronghorn goalkeeper from the assist from fifth year, Marques Scott.
  • In the second half, Pronghorns narrowed the gap against the Wolfpack as a corner kick by Will Hughes found Kai Sakaguchi, who buried one for the Horns.
  • A penalty kick goal by Will Hughes in the 78th minute put the Pronghorns back in the game, tying it 2-2.
  • A last minute push by the home team, was not enough to topple the reigning national champs and the score finished at two a piece.
