LETHBRIDGE – After a transformative year as the head coach of the Pronghorn Men's Soccer program, Vikram Virk has announced that he is stepping down to pursue an exciting new coaching opportunity in the professional ranks. While specifics about his next role will be revealed in due time, his impact on the Pronghorns and the community has been undeniable since he arrived. Under his leadership, the team made back-to-back runs to the Canada West quarterfinals, a testament to his coaching expertise and ability to inspire.
"This is a bittersweet moment for Pronghorn Athletics as Vik moves on to coaching at the professional level. From the moment he arrived in Lethbridge, Vik exemplified what it means to be a Pronghorn. We are incredibly proud of all he has accomplished during his time with us. While we are excited for him as he takes this next step in his career, we will certainly miss his leadership and the positive energy he brought to the program. We are also grateful for the foundation he has built for our men's soccer program," said Athletic Director for Pronghorn Athletics, Spencer Pommells.
"As I prepare to move on to the next chapter of my coaching journey, I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude to Pronghorn Athletics, and more specifically, my team, the men's soccer program. When I joined Pronghorn Athletics, I was told about the togetherness and tight-knit community that I would find in Lethbridge. It did not disappoint. I am incredibly grateful to have been a part of such a unique culture and experience," reflected Virk.
"I'm thankful for the opportunity to lead this program and for the support I received throughout the season. The connections I made with fellow coaches enriched my experience, allowing me to learn from their diverse expertise. I am incredibly thankful to the men's soccer alumni for the support they have shown me and the team from day one. It's truly special to see the connection between alumni and the current players grow. Coming to Lethbridge means becoming part of something bigger than just a team, and I take great pride in saying I am a Pronghorn. Most importantly, I'm grateful for the athletes; their commitment extended not only to bettering themselves but also to uplifting the team and contributing to the Pronghorn community. The dedication they showed is something truly special, and I look forward to following the team's growth and each individual's path."
