It was a busy weekend across Pronghorn Athletics, as men's and women's soccer combined for four matches while women's rugby opened their Canada West season at home. The results brought mixed emotions, with hard-fought road points, lessons learned, and momentum to build on heading into this weekend's Horns Triple Header.

Men's Soccer – Road Resilience in BC
The Pronghorns men's soccer team collected valuable points during a two-game swing through British Columbia. On Friday in Kamloops, the Horns drew 1-1 with the Thompson Rivers WolfPack. After a scoreless first half, TRU opened scoring in the 46th minute, and 5th year striker Kai Sakaguchi equalized in the 90th minute to bring home the tie. Goalkeeper Tegan Romaine made two saves to preserve the point in a physical contest.

On Saturday in Kelowna, the Horns edged UBC Okanagan 1-0 to cap the trip. Sakaguchi once again provided the difference, calmly slotting home a 55th-minute penalty to secure the win. Romaine was stellar in goal, stopping four shots for his first shutout of the season. The victory extended Lethbridge's record to 2-1-3.

Women's Rugby – Tough Start Against Vikes
At Community Stadium on Saturday, the Pronghorns women's rugby team faced the West Coast powerhouse Victoria Vikes in their home opener. The visitors stormed out to a 43-0 halftime lead and went on to a 55-12 win. The Horns showed fight in the second half, scoring two tries of their own and gaining valuable experience against one of the nation's top squads. They'll regroup quickly as Calgary comes to town this weekend.

Women's Soccer – Battling the Dinos
The women's soccer team faced a tough two-match homestand against the undefeated Calgary Dinos. Saturday's contest was a defensive battle, with the Horns holding off wave after wave of attacks until Calgary finally broke through in the 60th minute for a 1-0 win. Goalkeeper Kate Prince was outstanding, making 10 saves to keep the game close.

Sunday's rematch, however, was all Calgary. The Dinos showcased their depth with an 8-0 victory, spreading goals across eight different players. Prince remained resilient in goal, facing 17 shots on target and turning aside nine. Despite the results, the Horns will look to channel the positives from Saturday's defensive stand into their upcoming schedule.
