10/1/2026 9:02:00 PM

LETHBRIDGE - The University of Lethbridge Pronghorns hosted the UBC Thunderbirds on Thursday night at Community Stadium, taking on the defending U SPORTS national champions in a Canada West matchup. The Thunderbirds earned a 51-7 victory over the Pronghorns.

UBC opened the scoring in the fourth minute when Sierra Hasse crossed the line, with Sarah MacPherson adding the conversion to give the visitors an early 7-0 lead.

The Thunderbirds added to their advantage in the 10th minute. A blocked Pronghorn kick was recovered by Lana Dueck, who chased down the ball and scored UBC's second try of the night.

Lethbridge responded with several strong carries as the half progressed, including a big run from Zina Umeh in the 12th minute. The Pronghorns continued to build possession and appeared to be finding some momentum in the 16th minute when Jayda Morrison found a gap. However, a turnover gave UBC possession, with Teniola Epemolu making a strong run into Pronghorn territory before Mya Koleba finished the play with another try.

The Pronghorns maintained stretches of possession but were unable to convert their opportunities into points. UBC extended its lead in the 24th minute when Hasse scored her second try of the game, followed by another try from MacPherson four minutes later.

Epemolu added UBC's sixth try in the 37th minute, breaking down the left side and scoring despite a defensive effort from Umeh. The Thunderbirds took a 34-0 lead into halftime.

UBC continued to add pressure early in the second half, with Sadie Gluvic scoring in the opening minutes after the break. Sara Tehrani added another try in the 53rd minute, with MacPherson converting to make it 46-0.

The Pronghorns continued to compete through the second half, with Morrison and Sydney Wollbaum providing strong carries. After a UBC penalty gave Lethbridge an opportunity deep in Thunderbirds territory, Millie Teskey made a strong run toward the try line before Lucy Finnson drove the Pronghorns to within inches.

Lethbridge eventually broke through when Sydney McDonald crossed the line for the Pronghorns' first points of the night. Morrison added the conversion, bringing the score to 46-7.

The Horns continued to press following the try, with Umeh making another strong run down the left side that brought the home crowd to its feet before she was brought down. Lethbridge maintained pressure but could not add to its total.

UBC added one final try late in the contest, with Anya Prokopich putting together a strong run before finding MacPherson, who crossed the line to complete the scoring.

The final whistle sounded with UBC taking the 51-7 victory.
