LETHBRIDGE - The Pronghorns battled through a tightly contested Sunday afternoon matchup at the University of Lethbridge Community Stadium, securing a 1-0 victory over the Grant MacEwan Griffins.

The opening 45 minutes were a defensive affair, with both teams holding their shape and limiting opportunities in the final third. MacEwan recorded four shots in the first half, while the Pronghorns managed three, but neither side could find the breakthrough.

Lethbridge came out with greater attacking intent after the halftime break, creating several promising chances. Alessio Gusciglio tested MacEwan goalkeeper David Sithole early in the second half, but the Griffins keeper was able to make the save. Robert Woodroffe-Brown then came close with a header that sailed just over the crossbar.

The Pronghorns continued to press, and their persistence was rewarded in the 81st minute. After earning a penalty, Woodroffe-Brown stepped up from the spot and calmly tucked his shot into the bottom-right corner, giving Lethbridge a 1-0 lead.

The goal marked Woodroffe-Brown's fifth of the season in just five games, continuing an impressive start to his Pronghorn career.

From there, Lethbridge's defence held firm, protecting the narrow lead through the final minutes. Goalkeeper Tegan Romaine made one save on the afternoon to secure the shutout as the Pronghorns improved to 3-2-0 on the season.

The Pronghorns return to the University of Lethbridge Community Stadium next weekend when they host the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades on Friday, September 25, at 4 p.m.
