Streaking 'Horns Host Wesmen

Lethbridge – At exactly the midway point of the Canada West season, the Lethbridge Pronghorn men’s soccer (3-2-2 CW) team will attempt to solidify a playoff position down the stretch. The ‘Horns currently sit in third place in the Prairie Division, four points ahead of the Calgary Dinos.

This season Canada West spilt men’s soccer into two divisions with the top three in each division qualifying for the playoff round.

Amidst their best stretch in program history, the ‘Horns host the Winnipeg Wesmen (0-7-1 CW) for a pair of games this weekend. Both games kick-off at 2pm on Saturday and Sunday at the University of Lethbridge Community Stadium.

The ‘Horns are undefeated in their last five games, with three wins and two draws, and during this stretch they’ve only given up two goals. Tyler Boast has been outstanding in goal during the ‘Horns steak, recording three shutouts, and he sits tied for third in the conference in saves with 39 through seven games.

Offensively, the ‘Horns have only scored six goals on the season but all of them have come in the last five games. Midfielder Morgan Brownjohn leads the ‘Horns in goals with two.

In their first season in Canada West, the Wesmen’s winless record is deceiving due to the fact that they were stripped of two wins and a tie after using an ineligible player. Of the points the Wesmen forfeited, they had earned an impressive tie with division leading Saskatchewan Huskies and a sweep of fellow first-year program Mount Royal Cougars.

Richard Rundle leads the Wesmen in scoring with three goals in 8 games.

The ‘Horns final home games of the season will be October 20th and 21st when the Alberta Golden Bears come to town for a pair of games.
