LETHRBIDGE – It has been officially announced that Vikram Virk will join Phoenix Rising FC in the USL Championship League as an assistant coach for the 2025 season. After a successful year as the head coach of the Pronghorns Men's Soccer team, where he led the team to the Canada West postseason, Virk is now making the leap to professional soccer.
His move to the professional ranks marks a significant milestone in his career and he will work alongside Head Coach Pa-Modou Kah and the rest of the technical staff to help drive Phoenix Rising FC to new heights in the upcoming season.
"Vik is a passionate and talented coach," said Kah. "He's very knowledgeable and possesses a great understanding of the game. Having worked with him at North Texas and Pacific FC, where we lifted the Canadian Premier League title, I know he'll bring immense value to drive the team and staff forward."
Virk's one season with the Pronghorns saw his leadership and tactical insight elevate the team, pushing them to the Canada West postseason for the second consecutive year. His focus on player development and building a strong team culture made a lasting impact on the program and the Lethbridge soccer community.
"We are incredibly proud of what Vik accomplished with our program," said Spencer Pommells, Athletic Director for Pronghorn Athletics. "His commitment to the growth of the team and the positive, competitive culture he fostered has been invaluable. While we will miss him, we are excited to see him take the next step in his career."
Virk's transition to Phoenix Rising FC reunites him with Kah, with whom he previously worked at North Texas SC and Pacific FC, where they won a Canadian Premier League title together. Phoenix Rising fans are eager to see how this partnership will continue to evolve as the club aims for greater success in the 2025 season.
Pronghorn Athletics will now begin the search for a new head coach to continue building on the foundation Virk helped establish. The program remains focused on its future, committed to developing players in a supportive and growth-oriented environment.
