CALGARY – Pronghorn alum Kimoya Edwards was recognized at the 2026 Alberta Immigrant Impact Awards, celebrating her contributions as an athlete, scholar and community advocate.
A five-year member of the Pronghorn track and field program, Edwards competed in the 60-metre hurdles and helped lead the women's team to a top-ten national ranking and a ninth-place finish at the U SPORTS Championships. She earned a bronze medal in the 60m hurdles at U SPORTS Championships and finished fourth in the event at the Canada West Championships. As team captain, she led by example, setting a standard of dedication, focus and determination both on and off the track.

Beyond athletics, Edwards has demonstrated a strong commitment to student leadership and advocacy. She was twice elected Vice-President Academic of the University of Lethbridge Students' Union and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience, an Honours Thesis and Co-op designation.
During her time at the University of Lethbridge, Edwards also co-founded Fostering Liberal Arts Research Excellence (FLARE), an undergraduate journal and symposium, and Network of Black Women, a not-for-profit organization. Her work has focused on amplifying student voices, strengthening the academic experience and creating opportunities for students and emerging leaders.
The Alberta Immigrant Impact Awards recognize immigrants in Alberta who have made a difference through their contributions to communities across the province. Edwards was recognized at the 2026 Presentation Ceremony on Friday, October 2, at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium in Calgary.
