Lethbridge, AB – The Two Guys and a Pizza Place Pronghorn Athletes of the Week for the week ending November 16, 2014.
Female Athlete of the Week:
Sadie Lenstra – Women’s Hockey
Pronghorn captain Sadie Lenstra was the catalyst in her team earning their first weekend sweep of the season, beating the Mount Royal Cougars in a home-and-home series. Of the six goals the Pronghorns scored on the weekend, she was involved in four of them.
The fourth-year nursing student assisted on two goals in the ‘Horns weekend opening 4-0 win over the Cougars in Calgary. The win also snapped a four-game losing streak.
In the back half of the home-and-home series, Lenstra scored the game winning goal and set up the other Pronghorn goal in a 2-1 win.
On the season, Lenstra is tied for the team lead in points with eight, recording four goals and four assists.
Male Athlete of the Week:
Jared Baker – Men’s Basketball
Fourth-year guard Jared Baker put forth an impressive effort to help the Pronghorns return to the win column and earn a road sweep of the Trinity Western Spartans. In the two games, Baker combined for 29 points, 14 rebounds, seven assists and six steals.
Friday night, in the ‘Horns 88-83 win, the Sciences major scored nine points and picked up four rebounds, two assists and four steals. The next night, while battling through a thumb injury, Baker recorded a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds in the ‘Horns 92-73 win. He also recorded five assists and two more steals.
Through three conference weekends, Baker is averaging 9.7 points and 8.7 rebounds per games.
