LETHBRIDGE – The Two Guys and a Pizza Place Pronghorn Athletes of the Week for the week ending February 2, 2020.
 
Male Athlete of the Week
Chad Oviatt – Men’s Basketball
 
Looking to secure a post-season position, third-year forward Chad Oviatt led all scorers both nights in a pair of wins by the Lethbridge Pronghorn men’s basketball team over the MacEwan Griffins to clinch a playoff berth for the fifth consecutive season.
 
In the Pronghorns come from behind win on Friday night, the Edmonton product scored a game high 22 points on stellar 10 of 14 shoot performance. He added seven rebounds, a steal and a block in the Pronghorns 82-76 win over the Griffins.
 
To officially clinch playoff spot, Oviatt scored 19 points to go along with eight rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal in a convincing 87-56 win over MacEwan.
 
On the season, Oviatt leads the Pronghorns in scoring and rebounding, averaging 15.9 points and 7.4 rebounds per game and will look to help the Pronghorns clinch a home playoff date this weekend at home versus the Thompson Rivers WolfPack.
 
 
Female Athlete of the Week:
Asnate Fomina – Women’s Basketball
 
Entering the final two weekends of the conference schedule and attempting to secure a third straight playoff berth, fifth-year guard Asnate Fomina led the way as the Lethbridge Pronghorn women’s basketball team officially clinched a playoff spot with a pair of wins over MacEwan Griffins.
 
 
Friday night, Fomina tied for the game high with 20 points on 50% shooting performance and added six rebounds, four assists and three steals in the Pronghorns dominant 82-53 win over the Griffins.
 
 
Saturday in the playoff securing win, Fomina recorded her first double-double of the season to lead the Pronghorns to a 69-54 win. She scored 19 points to go along with a Pronghorn career high 11 rebounds for her first double-double as a Pronghorn. She also chipped in with three assists and two steals.
 
 
After missing the first half of the season due to injury, Fomina sits tied with fellow fifth-year guard Kacie Bosch for the team lead in points per game at 15.9 points.
 
 
Fomina and the Pronghorns host the Thompson Rivers WolfPack to close out the regular season and with two wins could secure a home playoff date.
