Lethbridge, AB – The Two Guys and a Pizza Place Pronghorn Athletes of the Week for the week ending March 13, 2016.

Male Athlete of the Week:
Peter Millman – Men’s Track

Prior to the CIS Track and Field Championships this past weekend, fourth-year thrower Peter Millman became just the second Pronghorn to be named CIS Field Athlete of the Year and followed that up with a gold medal and a top four finish in his two events.

The Truro, Nova Scotia native successfully defended his title in the shot put. Millman had the four furthest throws of the competition and earned his second consecutive gold medal with a top throw of 17.20 metres.

In his first action of the CIS Championships, Millman just missed the podium in weight throw and finished fourth. Millman opened the competition with a solid throw of 17.85 metres but that would be the best he could do on the day. He had throws of 17.63 and 17.38 but faulted on his other three throws.

Female Athlete of the Week:
Sandra Latrace – Women’s Track

Freshman Sandra Latrace capped off an exceptional first season as a Pronghorn, earning a national award before the CIS Championships began, and then captured two CIS Championship medals. She was the lone Pronghorn female to qualify for the CIS meet and earned enough points to finish 12th in the team standings.

Prior to the CIS Champion meet, Latrace was named the CIS Female Rookie of the Year after winning both the Canada West long jump and triple jump events.

On day two of the national meet, Latrace completed the season sweep of the long jump event and earned her first CIS gold medal in the long jump. Latrace and Saskatchewan's Astrid Nyame were tied with furthest leaps of 5.82 metres but Latrace had the farther second jump which gave her the gold medal.

Latrace wrapped up her brilliant first season by picking up a silver medal in the triple jump. Entering the event she was ranked seventh in the field but on the strength of a new personal best on her final jump, Latrace leaped all the way up from fourth place to secure the medal with a jump of 12.04 metres.

She also competed in the 60 metre sprint during day one, but didn't qualify for the finals and finished 10th.
